Q&A with Fellowship Christian linebacker Dontavious Carter

How did the high school football season go overall?
“I felt our season overall was a success. Although we fell short in the end, we grew substantially as a team and learned to work with more cohesiveness.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My off-season will consist of training with my football and track coaches as well as my two personal trainers. I intend on competing in several elite camps. My ultimate goal is to be bigger, faster, and stronger for next season.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We were a young team last year so many of our key players are returning. I feel like we're battle-tested, and we will be a real problem come next season.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Being that the classification changed and I'm not as familiar with the new lineup, I will have to prepare for every opponent as if they are the best.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Having a lot of highly-ranked players on our team, I think our best competition will come out of our own locker room. We practice hard and push each other daily.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes. I definitely intend on playing college football. I've always loved the University of Kentucky and enjoyed camping and learning about its rich history when I was in the 8th grade. A scholarship opportunity from them would be great. Getting older and visiting more schools has opened my eyes. Miami of Ohio, Middle Tennessee, Mercer, and Alabama A&M had great environments I enjoyed thoroughly. So I am not partial to any one school at this time. I am enjoying the process and learning more about the schools I have been in touch with.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Middle Tennessee, Miami of Ohio, Alabama A&M, Penn.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Middle Tennessee has shown significant interest. Coming to see me play, sending graphics and Game Day invites.”

“So far I have visited ULM, Alabama A&M, Miami of Ohio, Middle Tennessee, and Mercer.”

Do you have plans for any trips soon?
“I'm looking forward to visiting all of these schools again with a few new editions.”

Q&A with North Cobb wide receiver Steele Ingram

How did the high school football season go overall?
“Overall it was a good year. We play probably the toughest schedule in America and don’t shy away from playing anyone. Our non-region games were against Westlake, Buford, Marietta and NS Warner Robins. That set us up for a great run in the region. We were disappointed with our first round playoff exit but it’s tough to compete in 7-A with 8 starters out. But we didn’t use that as an excuse and just competed.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“We are all in year-round weight training classes. We never stop. We’ve got the top strength program in the state, no doubt. I just focus on getting stronger and continue to work on speed and agility. I’m also on the Football Leadership Council and we work every week on becoming better leaders.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We always have high expectations so we’re always working to get better. We have a talented group of skill players returning along with our QB. Our OL is always as good as you’ll find and we have experience coming back there too. Defensively, our front will be very good and we have athletes in the secondary.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“We are loaded with playoff teams on our schedule. It’s hard to pick just one. We always get everyone’s best. I’m looking forward to going to Walton and getting our region championship trophy. It belongs to North Cobb.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Bear McWhorter at Cass has proven he’s a tough player. Jake Ellis is another one they have. Those two may be the toughest two we see next year.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I do want to play college sports. I’m being recruited in football and baseball at the Power Five level. As a sophomore it’s hard for me to decide on one right now. I love playing both and have been playing both since I was 5 years old.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Kennesaw State has offered baseball. I can’t really talk to baseball coaches until August 1 of my Jr year since the new rule change but there have been several who come watch me play and I’ve been invited to camps and visits. Football wise, when coaches come to campus for a visit, I’m usually called in so they can meet me but I don’t have an offer yet. I think this spring will be huge.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Kennesaw State in baseball right now.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“Unofficially I’ve made several. Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Navy, Florida State, Kennesaw State, Troy, South Alabama to name a few.”

Do you have plans for any trips soon?
“My uncle was just named head football coach at Carson Newman. We will definitely be going up to visit him and his program next fall. But my parents also want to start hitting the road every Saturday to start visiting campuses in the fall.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Navy. My uncle coached football at Navy for 16 years. I thought I was supposed to be a Navy fan. But growing up in Georgia, I’m a Georgia fan and a huge Coach Smart fan. My Dad and uncle know Coach Smart from his days in Bainbridge. My grandfather coached football for 43 years and he and Coach Smart's Dad are friends. I also like Florida State because of how close it is to my grandparents’ home.”

“I plan on just getting back in the weight room, and going to camps to continue to grow my game and learn more techniques and drills I can apply to in-game situations.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?

“TBD (new region).”

Q&A with Heard County inside linebacker Antonio Heath
How did the high school football season go overall?
“Overall the season didn’t go as planned or how we wanted it to go. We had a big loss in leadership with Antwon passing during the summer that I don’t think we completely shook back from until the end of the season but allowed us to grow closer.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I plan on just getting back in the weight room, and going to camps to continue to grow my game and learn more techniques and drills I can apply to in-game situations.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel that we’ll be way better and should look like a different team next year. I mean we lost a couple of guys but we are still keeping a large portion of the team. I think we were just a young team but now that everyone’s played we’re good to go.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Bowdon are two-time state champs and Bremen beat us last year so both will be great challenges for us moving forward.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I think Kaiden Prothro from Bowdon is a pretty good player and one that will challenge us.”

......................................................................................................

Q&A with North Cobb quarterback Nick Grimstead
How did/is everything going football wise as of late?
“Late in the season we were good then playoffs came and I felt the team got comfortable with our opponent which showed on Friday night. What do you feel your team can continue to improve on going forward?
“Definitely In all aspects of the game. There’s always room for improvement in everything on the field. We have to finish games better. We had Walton down and let them come back to beat us. Have you been pleased with your performances?
“In certain aspects of the game I was pleased but if I want to get where I want to go, I have to do better. Not just playing the game but as in being a better leader and setting examples. I know I can do more to help this team and I plan to in 2024.”

How do you feel about the play of your team?

What are your sporting goals going forward as of now?
“Sporting goals I have are to lead my team deeper into the playoffs to give us a chance for a championship run. I play baseball also so I would like to see where that goes as well. I want to continue the recruiting process with colleges. not just for me, but for my teammates as well.”
