Q&A with Jones County defensive back Javion Butts
How did the high school football season go overall?
“It was an improvement from the previous year since we went 8-4 this year and got to the second round but obviously not where we wanted to finish.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I actually have to have surgery soon so I’m just trying to recover after that.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I think we’ll do good, we have a lot of young guys that are improving every day and working hard in the weight room that’ll step up to help us a lot this year.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I feel like Stockbridge will be the toughest team since they just came from the championship game last year.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“The guys who I really know of graduated this year so I really can’t think of anyone now.”

“Overall, not the best season.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“To get better and achieve my goals next season.”

“I feel the season would be great if the work is put in consistently.”

“Jones County.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“No one.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“If we’re talking on a scale 1-10, I’ll say 8.5.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plan with sports is to push my team to the best they can be on the practice field and at workouts.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“Pretty decent.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Thomas County Central.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“To be honest my team will face me in practice but it would most likely be Kendarius Reddick.”

Q&A with Thomasville athlete Messiah Wilson
How did the high school football season go overall?
“My season went great [with] my performance on the field [and] with the stuff I improved on and getting the ball more. But as a team, not as great, the record wasn’t great, [we’re] just learning [from] each other.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plans are to get better in speed and agility more and more working after school and doing weightlifting during school and stuff like that.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel great about this team for next season, we [are] all building chemistry with each other. More leaders [are] coming up and most of us came back that really played and I like that. We [are] all talented and [our] coaching staff [is] getting better and better [and] we have a chance to win STATE!”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I feel like Central and Fitzgerald, [they are] always tough schools to play every time we play them.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Dee Reddick from Thomas County, that’s the only one I really see that I have competition with guarding me this year!”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“The previous season didn’t go as well as we would have hoped but we showed [the] ability to do well, this coming season we’ll fully tap into that potential.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Me personally, I just want to continue to better myself in the weight room and field work wise. I’ve recently added yoga and Pilates into my routine to ensure I’ll be as nimble and agile as possible for my senior season.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We have way too many pieces to not make noise this season. I’m excited with what we have now and what’s coming. You can expect a long run from us this season.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Looking at the schedule, seeing big names like Langston draw attention, we know what they have been capable of in the past but we also know what we can do, but that’s a great competitor for sure.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“As a running back my mind always goes to the linebackers, with Stockbridge being back on our schedule, I’d be facing Chase (I don’t know his last name), a pretty big name in the county.”
